That was edition 66

Long simmering and then already over – the 66th 4 Hills Tournament. Due to the given situation my goals were not that high like in the last years. Taking the next step, gaining constancy and if possible to achieve a TOP-10 place.

Looking back it worked out not so bad. Although I wasn’t able to get the TOP-10 result, the event in Bischofshofen gave me really some confidence that I’m on the right way. But of course there is one thing that will make this tournament unforgettable. Kamil Stoch winning all four competitions. Hats off and congrats!

And of course thank you to all the fans at the hill. You were amazing! Even cheering loudly during drenching rain!

Now I’m looking forward to the first ski flying competition of this year. It’s time to go the next step, because there are Ski flying World Championships ahead of us.

So, keep on working and flying!
Greets, Michi

It’s that time of the year again – 4 Hills

It is on again – the 66th 4 Hills Tournament is almost here. A very special week during the year, to which every ski jumper simmers. The 4 Hills Tournament is something really special – four hills in only a few days with all the fans at the hill. Amazing!

The last world cup in Engelberg wasn’t what I hoped for, but we had another short training course afterwards in Garmisch and Seefeld and those days gave me some confidence back.

After that I enjoyed some very nice and quiet days within the family circle. It is always wonderful to come home for Christmas and to celebrate those days together. That’s the perfect way to recharge the batteries.

But now the focus is completely on Oberstdorf, where the first qualification will take place already tomorrow. In the last years Oberstdorf was quite a good place for me, but whether this will also be true this year – we will see. But of course I will do everything in my power to jump far. 🙂

So, see you at the hills!

Ski jumper is coming…

…as you say. And the pleasant news: I already was part of it at the world cup opening in Wisla.

During last weeks I worked hard to take part at the opening in Poland and I guess I was able to achieve this at least in a satisfying way. Of course not everything works out as smooth as it should be, but even to start was very cool.

Therefore it is even more fantastic that the team competition went so well. You could say that I was kind of the grandpa in the team and that with only 26 years 😉 All jokes aside. Although we were a very young team never jumped in this formation, it worked very nice and I enjoyed it very much. And 2nd place, just great. I’m proud to be part of this crew.

For me personally the single competition didn’t work out so fine due to the missing training during the last weeks. Nevertheless I’m quite positive concerning the next world cup stations. I will do anything to get back on track but this has to happen step by step.

Recovery and working to get completely fit again are the tasks for this week and hopefully I can make the next step this weekend in Ruka.

Keep your fingers crossed!
Michi

First London, then the world cup

Unbelievable, next season starts already next week. I hope I’m able to compete already at the world cup start in Wisla, but we’ll have to wait till next week to find out. I did my first jumps this week at the Bergisel in Innsbruck and I would say: so far so good. Now I’ll have to see how it will develop over the next days.

But before the world cup start next week, Krafti, Patrick and I spent a weekend in London. Again one of our cool travels together. Of course, we had to watch a football match live in the legendary Wembley stadium – very impressive. I guess we’re just a bunch of football freaks 😉

But we didn’t miss out the great sights of London, like the London Eye, the Tower Bridge or the Tower of London – there is so much to see, a very interesting city! And we also visited one or two legendary British pubs 😉 A really great weekend to take one step back from our daily ski jumping routine and to collect new impressions!

See you soon!

Status Quo

Hey guys!

I was very delighted about all those messages that reached me after my injury! Thanks a lot and thanks for your kind and supporting words!

Well, so how does it look like? I’m feeling fine and the way back looks promising. Step by step, it gets better every day and that puts me in a positive mood.

The goal is to start in Wisla, but I’ll have to wait whether this will work out. Now I simply have to work for that every day and then we will see how it develops over the next weeks and hopefully I will compete at the world cup start.

Thanks for your support and see you soon,

Michi

Summer is over

Alright, the summer ski jumping is over. The last two competitions at the Summer Grand Prix weren’t really what I had hoped for, but in the last few years the Summer Grand Prix has never been my strength and still the winter seasons didn’t turn out too bad 😉

In return, the Austrian Championships were all the better. Both at the large hill and the small hill I could take the title, which is a great extra motivation for the rest of the preparation and leaves me looking forward to the winter season already.

But before that we are going to Cyprus with the national team for a training course. Training and relaxing, in order that the batteries are charged for the upcoming long winter season.

In this sense, enjoy the nice autumn and see you soon!

After soccer is before ski jumping ;-)

Hi guys,

you have probably already asked yourself how the football match between Kraftl and me has turned out. Well, unfortunately I have to say that dear Stefan and his team have won. But we are already ready for the rematch next year at our home pitch. There we will turn the tables! 😉 Still, it was a great day where we all had a lot of fun. Thanks to both our Clubs and to JumpandReach for organizing the event and also a big thanks to all the fans who came to watch us play!

The next friendly competition off the ski jumping hill is coming up already. Tomorrow Kraftl and I will golf at the JumpandReach Open. There at the golf course I will take my chance 😉

Next up are the last stops of this years’ Summer Grand Prix. First, our home competition in Hinzenbach, where I’m already looking forward to the many Austrian fans and my family cheering us on and then we are off to the final in Klingenthal.

This weekend we are jumping with the team at the Continental Cup in Stams, which is where I went to school and eventually became a ski jumper 🙂 I’m sure it will be a cool weekend.

Bye for now!

Vacations and then…

Hey guys,

very relaxed I give a shout again. I had some very nice days in Sardinia. Sun, ocean, delicious food and taking a break from everyday life. This is the way you can start again with new energy into the ongoing preparations for next season. From next week on, a lot of training is on the schedule, but I’m looking forward to give it all on and besides the ski jumping hill.

But first I will give it all on the soccer field 😉 On Saturday it’s Michl vs. Kraftl. We will compete against each other with our respective home club to find out who of us is the better soccer player 😉

If you would like to see it live, then come to Schwarzach – this Saturday, 26th of August. Kick Off 15.30. Entrance is free! I guess this will be a blast.

So be there, or be square!

Summer Competition

The result of my first summer competition wasn’t of course one I had wished for. But you always have to see things in the right context. We are in the middle of next season’s preparations and I know exactly what I have to do, to show a great performance.

Besides competition and training, there is still some time to just enjoy summer, no matter on the golf course, at the lake or with a short turn in “my” plane 😉

But before we will continue with more training, I will head to vacations. A little bit of enjoying life and recharging batteries.

Till then, enjoy summer!

Training-Summer

It’s hard to believe how fast time goes by. Sommer Grand Prix already starts this weekend.

Three further training courses are done for the moment – Ramsau, Predazzo and Faak am See. Between these courses there was not much time to “rest” anyway Olympic season 2018 comes already closer and closer and I really look forward to the upcoming season and competitions.

Besides the training, there still was some time for golfing and the one or other hike with friends to enjoy nature and recharge batteries for the next challenges.

And then there is another exciting training course in Kuusamo on our schedule. After that I will begin to compete in the Sommer Grand Prix in Hinterzarten.

In the meantime I wish you some great summer days,

Michi
